COLLABORATION 02

Nicholas Walton Design LIMITED
Vanity Unit

Creative narrative

For my own en suite shower room on my most recent renovation project,
I wanted to design a vanity unit that would be a showstopper, a unique piece that would invite attention. It was essential for the piece to have a look of either being found in the house as an original piece or having been sourced from a Provencal mas. This design is the successful marriage of natural materials along with the more decorative.

Collaborating with Nicholas Walton Design Limited to create this piece was inspiring. His professionalism and expertise are second to none and his ability to translate sketches into the finished article is supreme. This is why I work with him on many bespoke pieces designed in the Atelier. Taking my colour inspiration from a page in ‘Perfect French Country’ by Ros Byam Shaw I wanted to use two colours, Canton and Marine Blue both by The Little Greene Paint Company. I drew my design and applied colour to the drawing with water soluble oil pastel. We added a marble top and counter sunk basin with a very minimal tap so as not to detract from the overall piece. It is now one of the main features of the house and draws many admiring comments. A truly uplifting experience!
